Made from 100% food grade silicone, eco-friendly and is the most simple to use breast pump. It fits perfectly into any handbag or baby bag and is the perfect gift for a mum to be.

The Haakaa Silicone Breast Pump provides relief for engorged breasts or is a simple and cost effective option for mums looking to create a stash of expressed breastmilk with minimal fuss. As there aren’t multiple components it can be used quickly in the middle of the night or if your baby has had a longer nap than usual.

How does the Haakaa work?

The Haakaa works by creating gentle suction on your breast. Most of our pumping mums use the haakaa as a milk catcher or collector while simultaneously breastfeeding their baby on the opposite breast. This assists with achieving a let down and saves time! This breastmilk would otherwise have been lost in a breast pad.

The traditional constant pumping action required for other manual/ non-electrical pumps isn't necessary with the Haakaa although our customers have found a squeeze every now and then can help to produce a let down. If you have a hand free gently massage your breast or apply a warm compress to improve your milk flow.

How To Use Your Haakaa Breast Pump?

1. Sterilise your pump or wash in warm soapy water (no bleaching agents)

2. Suction the Haakaa Silicone Breast Pump to your breast and let the pump do the work for you as it draws your milk using suction.

There are two ways to apply your Haakaa Breast Pump:

  • Simply align the Haakaa so that your nipple is in the centre. Press the pump into the breast so that there is suction and you are ready to go!
  • Fold back the silicone breast shield. Once your nipple is aligned in the centre, press the pump into the breast and fold back the pump shield so that it is contact with your breast.

Yes it really is that simple!

If any pain is felt, remove the pump until you feel comfortable.

3. Once milk begins to flow simply leave the pump alone to do its thing.

4. Once the pump becomes full empty into a glass storage bottle and reposition.

5. If the pump is full or you wish to stop pumping – simply suction the suction base to the table next to you while you finish your feed or re dress and the pump is 100% secure. Store as required.

Care Instructions

Clean after each use. This product can be sterilised with any steam sterilising system or boiling water. No bleach based agents. Bleaching agents can react with the silicone, while it is still safe to use, bleach will cause the silicone to go cloudy.

Milkbar Tip

  • Use the Haakaa while breastfeeding your baby to help achieve a let down
  • While constant squeezing (like traditional manual pumps) isn't required, a couple of squeezes at the start can help to trigger a let down.
  • Heat and gently massaging your breast towards the nipple can help with let down and drainage of the breast.

Money worth the buck

So I used this for weeks after my baby had jaundice initially and we had to bottle feed her 20 ml expressed milk after breast feeding, and I didnt have a breast pump. It worked perfectly I was able to express up to 30 ml with each feed, sometimes even 40. I have know bought a breast pump because you can only use the hakaa when feeding, but instead of douple pumping I use breast pump on one side and hakaa on the other because hakaa most of the time expresses just as much as breast pump. I would highly recommend this especially if you want to hold off in buying a pump to see first what your breast feeding circumstances are and what you need.

Absolutely love my Hakaa. I was sceptical and hesitated for a long time to purchase, but it really is amazing. It catches so much breastmilk, that my husband had the opportunity to feed our baby. I highly recommend and wish I got it with my 1st pregnancy.

Amazing pump

I was very skeptical when told about this pump but I had so many issues with blocked ducts and lumps from over supply of milk that i was willing to try anything. Rather than electric breast pump that stimulates more milk production this helped drain some from the other breast while feeding, without overly increasing supply. I get about 50-100ml off during each feed to freeze for later. Since using this system no more lumps

Not for me!

I used this a few times and after each use my breasts were sore and tender. The following day I would notice blocked ducts and had to try to massage them out. I can see how this would be a great time saver for some however it just wasn’t for me!

Hi Belinda - Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that you didn't have a positive experience with the Haakaa pump. Using any breast pump should never be a painful experience. If you ever feel pain we recommend removing the pump and readjusting the position. Also not having a strong suction might might also help you in this instance. If you don't take all the air out of the pump by not squeezing as hard when applying to the breast. We are always here to help :)
A good investment

The Haakaa pump was recommended by a mid wife in hospital, to take the edge off the feeling of fullness. It has been easy to use and easy to clean.
